aCabinet Digital Library

aCabinet* is a file sharing program for users in under-served internet environments. aCabinet runs principally via email. An administrator loads shared files to a master email account via the aCabinet website.

Other users call off a directory and then retrieve files using email commands. The response time is 1 - 2 minutes. Users can select files by sending queries based on tags or subject terms back to the master email account or by querying the directory on their devices.

In some instances, email commands can be composed offline and only later acted upon when devices pick up a cell signal. Such a system is useful where online connectivity is difficult to obtain, intermittent or slow.

*The "a" in aCabinet stands for "asynchronous" connectivity, the hallmark of this file sharing system.
